Work out what entry costs before you call anyone

Two things stop most Nigeria plans: the capital floor nobody costed, and the certificate nobody collected. These tools deal with both, in about four minutes.

Tool 01

Market entry cost & timeline calculator

Applies the ₦100m foreign-participation share-capital floor and the 0.75% stamp duty to your own numbers, and sketches a 90-day roadmap.

Your entry, costed

Indicative only
Slide from $25,000 to $5,000,000

Even 1% triggers the ₦100m floor

Banking, insurance, telecoms, oil & gas, capital markets, pharma

Requires an expatriate quota

Indicative only. Not legal, investment or tax advice. The ₦100m foreign-participation share-capital floor and the 0.75% stamp duty on share capital are stable statutory figures. Agency fees, professional fees and sector licence-capital requirements vary widely and are deliberately shown as requirements rather than invented precise numbers. Several regulated sectors carry licence-capital floors well above ₦100m — that figure, not the general floor, governs how much you import. Confirm everything with qualified Nigerian counsel before committing capital.

Tool 02

How money gets in — and back out again

The eCCI is the single most consequential document in Nigerian foreign investment, and the one most often skipped for speed. Step through it.

Capital pathway Step 1 of 5
1

Foreign capital leaves your account

Equity, shareholder loan or acquisition consideration. It must travel in the company's name, through formal banking channels.

Using informal FX channels because they are faster or cheaper is the decision that makes everything downstream unfixable.
2

It arrives at an authorised dealer bank in Nigeria

Not every bank handles capital importation competently. Choosing one with genuine eCCI experience is worth more than a marginally better FX rate.

3

The bank documents the inflow

Source, purpose, beneficiary company and instrument type are recorded and reported to the Central Bank.

4

The eCCI is issued — within 24 hours

The electronic Certificate of Capital Importation is your legal proof that this money entered Nigeria as foreign investment. Collect it on every single tranche, not just the first.

No eCCI, no clean repatriation. This is not always fixable retroactively, and it is the most common way foreign money becomes trapped in Nigeria.
5

Profits, dividends and capital can be repatriated

With eCCIs in hand and taxes settled, your bank can source FX and remit dividends, loan repayments or sale proceeds through official channels at the prevailing rate.

The one-sentence version. Paperwork at money-in protects money-out. The eCCI is the difference between profits you can repatriate and profits that are stuck in Lagos.

Where people go wrong. Capital arrives before the company exists. Or it lands in a director's personal account "to save time". Or the first tranche gets an eCCI and the next four do not. Each of those is recoverable only partially, and only sometimes.

What we do here. We introduce you to banks that handle this routinely, sit on the documentation for every tranche, and keep the certificate file complete — so that when you eventually want money out, the answer is a process rather than an argument.
